Greetings and God Bless You!
My name is Gene Maddox and I have been blessed to serve as pastor of Trinity
since June of 2001. Some people call me Pastor Gene, while others call me Gene.
Your choice. I have been given a wonderful wife, Leslie, and two incredible
daughters, Bethany and Hannah.
As pastor, I seek first of all to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ.
Though I was a Methodist during my childhood and youth, it was not until age
twenty at a non-denominational church that I realized that when Jesus hung and
died on a cross two thousand years ago, He did it for me! I, because of my own
rebellion was the one who deserved condemnation, but Jesus was willingly
condemned in my place. I sinned; He willingly suffered and died. And now, there
He was, loving me and offering me forgiveness! How could I help but immediately
fall in love with Him?! How could I do anything else but surrender my life to
Him and follow Him?! Clearly, this event was, and continues to be, the defining
moment of my life. Christ is my reason for living. He is full of grace and
truth! He is my life, my joy, and my Lord and God.
Since that time in the summer of 1974, He has led me to receive my Master of
Divinity Degree (1982) from Asbury Theological Seminary, become a United
Methodist pastor (1986), and receive my Doctor of Divinity Degree (2004), again
from Asbury. In other words, I’m still very much a beginner.
Jesus Christ is my reason for being a pastor. Why in the world He called Gene
Maddox to be a pastor for Him is beyond me. No one is more unworthy than I; and
I have A.D.D. And yet…here I am!
My number two goal as a pastor is to lead our church to know Christ and make
Christ known in our community and world. (Number 1 is the 2nd paragraph.) I pray
that our church’s heart can beat more and more in sync with God’s heart and,
consequently, more and more be His feet and hands to a hurting and dying world.
What can I tell you about Trinity United Methodist Church?
First, let me tell you what we do not care about. We don’t care about how
much money someone makes, the color of one’s skin, one’s primary language, or
one’s past. We do care very much about genuinely seeking to know and follow the
Lord Jesus Christ (please read our “Mission” and “Vision” statements). We care
greatly about being teachable and willing to learn and change and grow. And we
care and are excited about the real possibility of you coming to visit us!
If you are looking for something more in your life, please permit me to
suggest that the “something” you’re looking for is really a “Someone” whose name
is Jesus! In His own Words,” come and see”!

Blessings on you!

You are always welcome at Trinity United Methodist Church. We are happy to
invite you to worship and grow spiritually through the many programs that we

Contemporary and Traditional Sunday morning worship services. Sunday School is a
time to discuss Bible Scriptures and learn from other disciples of Christ. We
invite you to join us as we strengthen our relationship with Jesus through
study, discussion, support, and caring based upon the teachings of the Bible. We
look forward to seeing you soon.
